{"id":89,"date":"2016-07-28T01:23:17","date_gmt":"2016-07-28T01:23:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.proyecteus.com\/wordpress\/?p=89"},"modified":"2016-07-28T01:51:55","modified_gmt":"2016-07-28T01:51:55","slug":"percent-plan-in-microsoft-project-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.proyecteus.com\/wordpress\/percent-plan-in-microsoft-project-part-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Percent Plan in Microsoft Project &#8211; Part 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post continues the discussion on the tracking model based on the <strong>% Plan<\/strong> custom field.<\/p>\n<p>In the previous posts we defined the <strong>% Plan <\/strong>field and the formula that calculate the planned value according to the baseline and the status date for every task in the project, including the summary tasks.<\/p>\n<p>We used other custom fields to create an index that measures the project performance based on the <strong>% Complete<\/strong> and the <strong>% Plan <\/strong>values.<\/p>\n<p>You may want to check out the previous articles before this one in order for you to have the whole picture:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.proyecteus.com\/wordpress\/percent-plan-in-microsoft-project-part-1\/\"><strong>Percent plan in Microsoft Project \u2013 Part 1<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.proyecteus.com\/wordpress\/percent-plan-in-microsoft-project-part-2\/\"><strong>Percent plan in Microsoft Project \u2013 Part 2<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.proyecteus.com\/wordpress\/percent-plan-in-microsoft-project-part-3\/\"><strong>Percent plan in Microsoft Project \u2013 Part 3<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Everything seems fine with the model, except that the <strong>% Plan<\/strong> sometimes is not comparable with the <strong>% Complete<\/strong> on the summary tasks. This weakness of the model is due to the calculation method we used for the <strong>% Plan<\/strong> which is different from the way Microsoft Project calculates the <strong>% Complete <\/strong>on the summary tasks.<\/p>\n<p>What to do if we want a more robust model?
